The Unit focuses on Financial Accounting. Financial Accounting deals with recording, summarizing and communicating economic events of entities based on established principles, standards and legislation. The study of Financial Accounting will provide individuals with some of the prerequisites needed for careers in public accounting. In addition, the study of Financial Accounting will assist individuals in their roles as customers, employees or potential investors to evaluate the performance of businesses using published financial statements and other accounting information .

The course material is divided into three Modules: 

Module 1 being Accounting Theory, Recording and Control Systems 

Module 2 being Preparation of Financial Statements  

Module 3 being Financial Reporting and Interpretation .
